Bonding the Impossible: Advanced Lamination Solutions
We specialize in the science of “Tie Layers.” By using extruded resin as a liquefied adhesive gel, we bond dissimilar materials into high-performance, multi-layered composites.

How We Build Composite Constructions
The secret to a durable laminate is the interface. Our process involves:
- Liquefaction: Heating specific polymer resins into a gel-like adhesive (think of it as industrial-grade “Elmer’s Glue”).
- The Nip Point: Bringing two rolls of flexible material (Wovens, Foams, or Films) together through high-pressure rolls.
- Encapsulation: Dropping the molten resin between the layers, where it acts as a permanent tie layer.
- Calendering: Running the composite through finishing rolls to set the exact profile and thickness.
What We Laminate
If it’s flexible and on a roll, we can likely laminate it. We are experts in creating “composite constructions” from:
- Needlefelt & Spunbonds
- Open & Closed Cell Foams
- Metalized Films & Foils
- Specialty Fabrics & Papers
- Dissimilar Pairs: (e.g., bonding a Polyester rug to a Urethane non-skid backing).
Why Twitchell Lamination?
No Systemic Failure: We advise on resin compatibility to ensure your layers don’t delaminate under heat or stress.
Custom “Hand”: Through our 6-additive compounding, we can adjust the softness, stiffness, or “grip” of the final laminate. Large OD Capability: Our equipment handles large diameter rolls (up to 48″), reducing downtime and changeovers for your production line.
