Vertical Hot Melt Extrusion: Custom-Built for Scale
When the industry standard of 60 inches isn’t enough, Twitchell delivers. Our one-of-a-kind vertical die extrusion lines offer widths up to 110″, providing the production efficiency required for high-volume industrial applications.

The Vertical Die Advantage
Unlike standard horizontal or diagonal dies, Twitchell utilizes a custom-engineered vertical die process. This orientation allows for a more continuous, gravity-assisted profile that ensures:
- Uniformity: Consistent thickness (gauge) across the entire width of the web.
- Integrity: Reduced internal stress on the polymer, leading to better adhesion and barrier properties.
- Versatility: The ability to process higher viscosity resins that standard equipment struggles to handle.
Technical Specifications & Precision
We specialize in “butter-on-toast” consistency, ensuring that every yard meets your exact performance requirements.
- Coating Widths: 36″ to 110″ (Industry-leading capability).
- Thickness Range: From sub-1 Mil for lightweight barriers up to 45 Mils for heavy-duty protection (via multiple coating passes).
- Efficiency: Our wider lines allow for “Two-Out” or “Three-Out” slitting, effectively doubling or tripling your production output per run.
Engineered Chemistries
We don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” resin. Our tribal knowledge extends to the most complex high-performance polymers:
- Polyolefins: LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, and COPP.
- Specialty Resins: Urethanes (TPU), Polyesters (PET), EMA, and EVA.
- Custom Blends: We mix custom “Master Batches” in-house to achieve specific melt flows and performance traits.
- Note: We do not extrude PVC or Nylon, focusing instead on high-efficiency alternatives.

Ready to Scale Your Prototype?
If you’ve hit a wall with narrow-width coaters or inconsistent gauge control, it’s time to move to a line built for the task.
